Catching up with May

May flew by so fast, it seriously lasted forever!

I threw away my favorite pair of toms (the stink was unbearable), I got an apartment in my favorite part of town (Riverside), went out with friends, endured a tropical story by myself, went with my voice teacher to get a tattoo, got a new voice teacher, built a rocket, debated over what beer was best, the list goes on & on. oh and I finally saw Troll 2. Thank you Jet.

Thanks May, it was real.

Hot Mikado indeed!

So...remember that other time when I said I would be blogging more and posting recipes on Mondays?

Yea life catches up with you when you're the Stage Manager of a cast of 24 people.

The Gondoliers was a great production. I definitely learned a lot from my experience. I learned how to deal with people, how to keep the director happy amongst other things.

Right now I'm working on an another production called Hot Mikado. It's based on Gilbert & Sullivans The Mikado only that it's set in the 1940s in a Jazzed up Japan. Very silly but also fun. I'm in the ensemble and I understudied the lead Yum-Yum.

Glad to be on stage again, but man is it a lot of hard work. Understudying is not something I'm not used to. I understudied for Actress #3 in Jacksonville University's production of A...My Name is Alice. I just fell in love with the part of Yum-Yum though. I'm not totally bummed though, since I'm going to use her solo "The Sun and I" in my upcoming Senior Showcase (which I also need to work on! yikes!).

Being in the ensemble is fun though. I get to tap dance as well as jitter-bug (something I've always wanted to learn). I've also made a lot of friends. It's so great being in a show because the cast ends up being your family for a bit. You spend a lot of time together, especially after hours, and you just are learning from the people in your community.

So that being said, I will try & try again to post here. I sometimes forget how much I love writing here.

xoxo.

Spicy Kelp Noodles

I love to make this dish, or any variation of it. It's so easy & yummy. You can also add tofu to this dish.

You Will Need:

1 cup of Kelp Noodles

2 tbs of Soy sour cream

1/2 cup of a Mild Hot Sauce (I used Peruvian sauce)

1/2 cup of Garbanzo Beans

1/2 cup of Green Beans

Rinse a can of Garbanzo beans, measure half and microwave. I usually save the rest for the next day. Steam Green beans for 10 mins. In a medium bowl prepare kelp noodles, add sour cream, and hot sauce together. Next vegetables & beans and continue to mix. When done, put the noodles in a smaller bowl and voila! You can also add tofu to this dish.

I love to make this dish, or any variation of it. It's so easy & yummy. Hope you enjoy :)

Happy Friday!

I never have a day off. Being a Music Theatre major, I'm running around from 8 am til whew, only God knows when. Today most of my classes were canceled, so I decided to go tanning with one of my roommates. I just needed a couple of hours to not have a care in the world since I have a pretty busy weekend ahead of me

Tonight I have rehearsal from 5-8, then I'm going to a concert to help save local comic book show called A Universe of Superheroes. Tomorrow the Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, is opening for their season again. It's where a bunch of local crafters and shop owners sell their items in mini booths. It's one of my favorite Saturday past times. Hopefully I can get some thrifting in as well. Later that night, I will be watching my friend Jet dance in the Jacksonville University Dance concerts, and then stop by Inside the Target Car's set (hopefully). Sunday I will have to light hang all day at the theatre.

So you see why I needed a little Me Time.

It's gonna be a crazy fun weekend, but I'm sure it'll be fun. Hope you're all having a wonderful Friday.

Bike Adventures

This past weekend I went on a biking adventure with my fellow bike gang "The Montars" at Withlacoochee (With withlacoochee wha?) State Trail in Ocala, Florida. Before things get crazy, we're just a bunch of friends who love biking together. No gang related nonsense, we just thought it would be funny to name ourselves something bike related, Montar meaning"to ride" in Spanish. Anyway, it was planned to ride this trail, go camping for the night, and then come back the next morning.

My thoughts: I love to go biking, I rarely go camping, & I get to hang with my buds, alright I'm in! Little did I know that the trail was 46 miles long til I got there.

Ok so 46 miles might not be a lot to some people, but let me put things into perspective. When I ride bike around downtown I ride around for about 16-20 miles, and that's with stops in between. I seriously don't train to do long distance biking. So when I started this ride I had a positive outlook. We stopped after 16 miles to grab some lunch at an Italian place close to Dunnellon, FL and then got ready to ride. The rest of the ride, I wasn't ready for. Long story short, I was way to tired, some of us got separated so as not to leave me behind, and by the time we got to to campsite we were dead tired. The next day, I had to get the park ranger to take me back to the van to wait for the others. It was embarrassing!

So I might look like a lame-o, but you know what? I'm actually really proud of myself. I did close to 50 miles that day. As my friend John pointed out, I would have never done that on my own. I'm so proud of my friends who did the actual 100 miles, in the rain no less, as well. We each pushed ourselves hard this past weekend in our own ways, and made great new memories/stories to tell in the future. Next time though, I think I'll get a better bike seat and plan ahead for a lengthy ride.

What are some adventures have you had lately?

Remember that time...

When I said I was going to start blogging more? Ha! Well it took me two months, but at least I'm starting to blog (better late than never!). So here I go again. I've been reading a lot of blogs lately, trying to get some ideas on what I want to write about. Right now I'm enrolled in an E-course taught by the lovely Elsie Larson, to better my blogging skills. Yes, I'm a nerd and I like to take classes outside of college. I studied abroad in Spain and took courses that had nothing to do with my major, fun huh? :]

Well as I've taught about what kind of blog I want this to be, I've realized I just want it to be somewhere where I can just let my creativity out. I have waaaaay to many hobbies and I feel like I need to document them. Why not? I'm sure someone will care out there in internet world. If not, well at least I can look back at my posts one day and see what a crazy kid I was trying to do all these hobbies while trying to get a college education.

With that being said, let's get this show on the road!

A New Me

I've been feeling creative lately. I've been drawing from several inspirations, and I feel like I need to buckle down and finally do them. It's almost a new year, so why not add new challenges and new hobbies. You can never have too many hobbies, can you?

So I will try and do DIY projects, even know I have a busy schedule ahead of me, and I will take photos now that I actually have a snazzy camera. I will also try new Vegan recipes and try and share them here. New Year, New Resolutions. Let's do this.
